Ideas to Get You Started

Collect Magazine Pictures and articles about kitchens. Visit open houses and model homes. Take pictures. Make notes about details that you like such as moldings, special features, unique designs and anything else that appeals to you. If you would like to read the latest magazines from our library, just give us a call.

Fill out Our Questionnaire. Filling out our detailed questionnaire will help to explore areas you may not have considered. This process will ensure that you don’t forget any details. This questionnaire is most helpful to a kitchen designer. It is the information the designer needs to personalize your new kitchen.

Read a Kitchen Planning Guide. Reading good material on planning will give you an education on various aspects of kitchen design, terminology, materials and quality. You will be better prepared when you visit a kitchen designer to ask the best questions. Stop by our showroom and pick up your copy today.

Shop for Appliances. Visit a reputable and knowledgeable appliance dealer who can educate you on the latest innovations in appliances. Get pricing on good, better and best categories. This will come in handy if you need to adjust your budget.

Establish a Budget. Decide how much you would be willing to invest in your kitchen. Keep in mind you will need to include cabinets, counter tops, appliances, carpentry, electrical, plumbing, flooring, painting and miscellaneous materials. You may want to ask a reputable kitchen dealer what the average kitchen remodel costs for a house in your price range.

Find a Kitchen Designer. It is very important to find a designer who specializes in kitchen design. It is the designer’s responsibility to take information from you (usually in the form of a detailed questionnaire) and design a kitchen that suits your lifestyle, is functional and has the look you want. The designer also integrates your appliance selection into the design. Mistakes made by an inexperienced or unqualified designer can be expensive and disappointing. The better designers usually have a certification from the National Kitchen and Bath Association or a design degree.

Ask Around. Talk to people who have recently had their kitchen remodeled or had a kitchen installed in a new home. The best way to assure yourself of working with a company you’ll be happy with is to talk to their customers. Ask if a problem did arise how it was handled. Did the company meet or exceed their expectations? Was the project completed on a timely basis? Are you satisfied with the design and the look?
