While moving here from another town in North Carolina, we first saw the nationally historic Troy Bumpass Inn and we were entranced. I love to cook, and the idea of owning a bed and breakfast was an exciting one for me. At first, I thought I could simply replace the kitchen island. Very quickly, however, I realized that it was not possible to operate efficiently in the existing space.

When I saw the ideas that the My Dream Kitchen staff had envisioned, I was amazed. By incorporating a wall that contained a simulated fireplace, they had virtually doubled the space. Design solutions including appliance placement, using simple white Brookhaven cabinetry, with a contrasting wood on the island and two different granites made the kitchen as beautiful and harmonious as the rest of the house. The construction supervisor, David Henry, of Acorn Construction was a delight to work with, and he kept me laughing throughout the whole process.
